3018 CNC Build Project

Post by Eric »

So last year I bought the 3018 CNC and it sat until recently waiting for me to build it. All last year I assembled the files, tutorials and information in my Github repo including all spare parts and upgrades for the 3018. You can find it here:

https://github.com/MKme/3018

I live streamed the entire assembly on mkme.tv and will post the installments here to hopefully help other builders

That was the last of the live shows so this one is a vlog style on MKME Lab channel showing the 3D printed handles to manually move the X and Y axis lead screws. These ended up later not fitting in the enclosure :(

In this vlog there is a segment showing the 3018 acrylic enclosure from Genmitsu Amazon. This is a super nice enclosure for the CNC machine and Im quite happy I bought it. I still have to machine the wasteboard this week and get the CNC installed permanently in the garage makerspace.

Finally got the 3018 moved and set up in the garage with the K40. Super happy about how things are coming along. I just need to get some Gcode made to surface the spoilboard and I should be ready to go. And some warm weather too as the garage is not heated except my salamander style heater running when I need to make stuff.
