OK so im kinda new here and thought I would share one of my projects with you.
Here is my home made CNC Machine.

There have been a few improvements since these photos were taken.
The upright supports have now been strengthened and altered.
It can cut a 10mm x 10mm square and the measurement will be 9.95mm x 9.95mm square.
Now thats a 0.05mm tolerance.

I mainly use this for PCB track cutting but I also use it to engrave and carve.

OK so enough of the chatting, Lets get to it...

Here is the upright support... This has changed a-little since this photo was taken.
This gives me 480mm movement on the X-axis.


Here is the base/bed platform.
This gives me 500mm on the Y-axis.



OK here is the upright mounted to the base, along with the Z-axis mount.
Yes I know the garden is a mess.
I no longer live there so what the hell...



I now mounted the Z-axis.
This gives me a 100mm depth.
This has since changed.



And here was the first item that I cut.
Yes its a little rough here and there but I have since made many adjustments and improvements.

Here is a rough cut on MDF before cutting onto slate.
Machine was running at 200% speed.


And here is the software.

This is totally cool- I haven't messed with anything CNC. Very neat!

Looking good! I've been wanting to make a couple of CNC machines, a larger 3x3-4x4 foot mill for woods and plastics, and a much smaller ~1x1 foot with much higher tolerances for milling PCBs. They can be made really cheap these days from wood and what not, the only issue I have with wood is moisture causing warping and tolerances getting out of whack. Ill probably make the bigger table using wood, but the smaller one will likely be a mixture of 3d printed parts and threaded rod, much like my scratch built reprap prusa mendel i2. What electronics are you using? And the stepper motors?

The motors are nema23's.
Using wood was a concern for me also and I have since made changes to the CNC.
I will post more updates here soon.
The electronics are just a cheap Chinese brand (Not sure on the name)
There OK and still connect to Mach3 so its all good.
