Spot "Trace" GPS

i purchased the Spot Trace GPS unit for the High Altitude Balloon Project and I have to say this is a nifty piece of gear. I am having some troubles with reliability currently however. Just updated the firmware in hopes of an improvement. Time will tell.

On a side note- I just received an email from the shipper that I could basically receive a credit for the entire monitoring fee if I submit a form in the next couple weeks. I will follow up and post the results as if this turns out to be valid- you can just pay for the hardware and get an entire monitoring contract for free. Waay cool!.

Update on this- the Spot trace unit is working quite perfectly. It does exactly as the manufacturer says. Will find out soon how it performs after being sent to 80,000 ft +
