EduCase Portable Classroom Project

Post by Eric »

As I have mentioned on the live show a few times I finally have the majority of the parts required to begin building the "Without Borders Classroom"!

Long story short:
This will be multiple raspberry Pis and various electronics
Multiple display systems
Satellite communication
Learning software and news delivery systems
Fully portable
Solar chargeable

I see no reason this project should not be fully baked in the upcoming months. I had to wait awhile to get the components needed without breaking the bank on the project. I will set up dedicated web page info and GITHub repo soon.

I'm truly excited...

Cheers

The build is well under way now and I have the satellite communication working perfectly as well as the first Raspberry Pi image almost complete with a tonne of educational resources on board. I'll update some links in the future but for now you can find the project documented on Hackaday here:

Well the project was picked for the first round of Hackaday winners! This means that the Educase now goes right through to the finals. Neat :)

I have updated almost all the project files, instructions and code on GitHub as well as the project overview on Hackaday. I sincerely hope someday to make a production model of the EduCase and get it available to those in need at a budget price. For now anyone can make one and if you need some help or advice with the assembly- go ahead and post right here and I will help out wherever I can.

For those who keep messaging and asking why I am not pursuing commercial protection (copyrights, patents etc)- My answer is simple: I could not have made the project without people before me sharing their ideas, code and designs. I believe this should remain open source and maximize the chances of it really making a difference in the world.

Good luck with your builds!

Cheers
