setting up SDR for the first time

Post by Lyn »

Inspired by:

https://madis-data.noaa.gov/sfc_display/

http://www.g4ilo.com/wxsats.html

http://www.onearth.org/articles/2014/10 ... -continent

I would like to be able to download images as well as listen to the local storm chasers (one told me they broadcast on FM)

And I found this site.
SO. What I need is a
Handheld receiver from the store on this site, and a the kit from NOO electric ( http://www.nooelec.com/store/sdr/sdr-re ... r820t.html).

Is this correct?

The handheld will allow me to listen to the weather guys when I'm up in the mountains here,
and the Noo elec device will allow me to view weather maps and images from NOAA before heading out.

Am I way off or (at least) partially heading in the right direction? :?

Thanks,
Lyn

You can use the SDR to receive storm chasers etc too. It can do both :) Lots of vids on my YouTube channel. Cheers!
